WHO WE ARE

We are a Spirit-led, inter-ethnic community, that feels like home, continues to pursue healing, and operates glocally.

OUR VISION

We envision a Christ-centered community of global citizens who impart holistic healing, forms transformational leaders towards a complete identity in Christ, and impact and influence society with the Gospel at a local and global level.

OUR VALUES

SPIRITUAL FORMATION

We desire to be spiritually awakened and strengthened in our faith. We believe our holistic (body, soul, and spirit) formation is essential for true transformation, and that our identity as children of God through Jesus is the foundation of who we are.

COMMUNITY

We desire to embody God’s intended community among global citizens. We believe that community (microcosm) and global justice (macrocosm) cannot be separated. We are committed to be a diverse community where everyone is welcome at the table, and an intentional community that engages in social justice issues.

EMPOWERMENT

We are a community who resource, empower, and propel each other into our God-given destiny and purpose. We trust in the guidance of the Holy Spirit and acknowledge our limited capacities as human beings.

OUR PILLARS

Our church is built upon six pillars based on Acts 2:42-47

TEACHING

We believe true transformation and growth comes from the teaching of the Scriptures. Through teaching we are discipled into a deeper relationship with Jesus, not only intellectually, but holistically—it will ultimately touch every area of our lives (v. 42a).

FOOD

We believe food and fellowship go hand in hand. When we break the bread and cherish each other in community, we are sharing in the joys and sufferings of Christ (v. 42b). At the table, everyone has a place regardless of their cultural or religious background; there, we can share and learn from one another freely (v. 46).

PRAYER

We believe prayer is at the center of our faith. It is through prayer that we can communicate our thoughts and feelings to God; it is also through prayer that we can listen to the voice of God. Prayer is a dialogue, not a monologue, and without it, the fuel that feeds our primary identity as daughters and sons of God is lost (v. 42b).

MIRACLES

We believe Jesus empowered the church through the Holy Spirit to go forth to heal the sick, cast out the evil one (both personally and systemically), and raise the dead. In God’s wisdom, we move in faith, stand in the gap for a person, a family, or a community, and believe that God can still move in supernatural ways to bring holistic (physical, emotional, spiritual) healing, even in dire situations. (v. 43)

JUSTICE

We believe God has created us in His image. Therefore, all have the same right to be treated equally. We thrive and believe that there should not be any needy person (physically, emotionally, and spiritually) among us—in our church, our city, and our world! We are committed as a community to learn and serve the marginalized by partnering with them and empowering them to reach their God-given purpose. (v. 45)

PRAISE

We believe worshipping God is to ascribe ultimate worth to Him, both with our lives and our lips. It is through worship that we enter (become aware of) God’s presence in surrender and freely declare who He is. There we become tender to His love towards us, and beautiful transformative encounters happen. (v. 47)

 OUR STORY

Our hearts are torn between different places: Adapting to a new place we are excited to call home, missing our culture of origin, and yet at the same time in awe on discovering new cultures and finding beauty in diversity. These are all too common experiences that my wife Andrea and I encountered as Peruvians working in NYC.

We quickly found out that we were not the only ones that have had these experiences. There was a community of like-minded Global Citizens who have had experiences not too different from ours. Global Citizens are those whose lives transcend beyond national borders, reflecting a global identity due to their geographical location, cross-cultural experiences, and personal interests.

With both the joys and struggles, the failures and successes that come with being a Global Citizen, we realized we couldn't do this alone, and we needed a community where we felt understood and known. Out of that necessity, and a dream of seeing a community of Global Citizens that resource, empower and propel each other into their God-given destiny, was that New City NYC was birthed!

We hope that regardless of your background, whether you've just realized you are a Global Citizen or you have known you are for a while, we invite you to be a part of this community from all around the world!

Much love,
Piero

TEAM

  • Piero was born and raised in Lima, Peru. He moved to the U.S. at age 18 and received a B.S. on Business Administration, as well as an MDiv from Alliance Theological Seminary and a ThM from Princeton Seminary.

While living in the United States, Piero was involved in various intercultural experiences in different countries, both as a student and minister. He has also worked in both multi-cultural and ethnic settings (e.g., Chinese, Latin-American, Haitian, etc.) His passion for cultures and holistic healing has taken him to research and write on western and non-western paradigms in its contrasting and symbiotic relationships.

He envisions both a world-wide network of global citizens that resource and propel each other into their God-given destiny and an unprecedented unity among communities in Global Cities to see God’s justice embodied on Earth.

  • Andrea was born and raised in Lima - Peru and moved to the United States in 2016. She is passionate about people, nature, food, cultures, and faith.

She worked as a Brand Manager in the fashion industry before moving to New York. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and a Master’s Degree in Intercultural Studies from Alliance Theological Seminary. Her dream is to combine both degrees to see women and children being empowered all over the world as she integrates her skills and passions in the fashion industry to serve those in vulnerable conditions.

  • Lara aspires to live an abundant life, chasing after God's purposes for her. She left her home in Singapore to pursue one such adventure with her husband, which led them to New York City in 2021. She is also an experienced, professional software engineer.

Lara loves to sing and play the keyboard and guitar. She is blessed to be a blessing by leading others to worship. For many years since she was a teenager, she has served and led worship in various settings for children and adults, from small groups to large services, and in English and Chinese. Lara hopes to see the Lord move among his people through worship and is anticipating to see where God takes her in the worship ministry.

  • Carolina was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador. Received a bachelors in accounting as well as an MBA from Nyack College. Carolina worked in accounting, human resources, and as a medical specialized interpreter before moving back to the US in 2022.

Carolina is passionate about children, faith, cultures, and learning. While growing up in Ecuador and living in the US Carolina had the opportunity to serve in children’s ministries, from toddlers to teenagers for over twelve years. Through motherhood and by being involved with children’s ministry Carolina has grown in a deeper level of understanding God’s amazing love through the simplicity and innocence of children. Her dream is to serve God and for children to learn about who HE is and for families to come to the LORD and be transformed by HIM.
